Projects Linus making blankets for children in need
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — An organization spent Saturday morning making blankets for a good cause.
The local chapter of the national campaign Project Linus celebrated national ‘make a blanket day.’
Project Linus is based off the classic peanuts comic character Linus and is dedicated to providing comfort through blankets to children who are ill or have gone through traumatic experiences.
On Saturday morning, volunteers worked together to create blankets that will be distributed to area children in need.
Organizers say the blankets mean so much more than just a piece of fabric.
“I believe the children of our community need to have this. I believe that they need a hug especially in a traumatic situation. Not only the hospitals but some of the children are out of their homes, their homeless. Some of the children have experience fires or car accidents or deaths in the family. Anything that we can do to help them get through that is paramount,” said Linda Delong, area coordinator for Project Linus.
Any scraps left over during the event will be used for pillows given to area animal shelters.
