Public weighs in on La Crosse/Town of Shelby boundary agreement
Residents get chance to weigh in on proposals at public input meeting
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Area residents are getting their chance to weigh in on a potential agreement between two communities.
As News 8 reported last week, the City of La Crosse and Town of Shelby have agreed to a preliminary boundary agreement.
The proposed deal was the result of two years of discussions to figure out which city benefits the town could gain without being annexed in exchange for revenue sharing.
Members of both communities got a chance to hear the details on Monday night and offer their input.
Officials say they’re hoping residents can provide some insight on which of two proposed growth area maps they prefer.
“We’re looking at two different growth areas that will benefit both the city and the township, so hopefully we get some input today,” said Town of Shelby Chairman Tim Candahl. “Sometime in the near future coming up, we’ll have some sort of direction where we’re going to spur development for the Town of Shelby and spur development for the City of La Crosse.”
City and town officials will take tonight’s comments back to their respective committees and make adjustments to the plan.
