Racine alderman is charged assaulting woman
RACINE, Wis. (AP) — A Racine alderman has been charged following an alleged assault of a female employee.
Keith Fair was charged Monday with strangulation and suffocation, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman and the 59-year-old Fair are in a relationship and she is employed by him as a private investigator and a bartender.
The Journal Times reports when he was driving her home early Friday, the woman said she pushed Fair’s face, and then Fair grabbed her by the throat and punched her while squeezing her throat. The woman is pregnant.
Attorney Marc Christopher says they just received the complaint and haven’t seen the evidence. He says they are still assessing the case.
He posted a $2,000 cash bond Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is Oct. 13.
