Rams sign Todd Gurley to 4-year extension

The Los Angeles Rams and Todd Gurley have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $60 million, according to ESPN and The Associated Press.

The deal includes $45 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus, as originally reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and later confirmed by the AP.

The guaranteed amount would be the largest guarantee ever given to a running back, according to Schefter.

The Rams announced the deal on Tuesday, but did not reveal financial terms. The 23-year-old was already under contract on his rookie deal through the 2019 season and the extension will take him through 2023.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, who has been seeking a long-term contract after receiving the franchise tag in back-to-back years, took note of Gurley’s new deal on Twitter.

Bell, who will make $14.5 million this season, congratulated Gurley in one tweet and then referenced his own demands with the Steelers in a second tweet.
