Ready-made salads recalled in 22 states because of E. coli fears

Ready-made salads containing meat or poultry are being recalled in 22 states because of E. coli fears, the USDA announced Thursday.

More than 75,000 pounds of salad products made by Missa Bay, LLC, a Swedesboro, N.J., company is involved.

You can see a list of all of the products — which bear the establishment number “EST. 18502B” inside the USDA mark of inspection — here.

These items were shipped to locations in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The bacteria produces a toxin that causes symptoms such as bloody diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps, typically within several days of swallowing the bug. Usually, this is resolved within a week, but sometimes it can get worse and last longer.
