Recall Walker backers seek lawsuit dismissal

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Those seeking to recall Gov. Scott Walker are asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit Walker’s campaign filed against the state elections board.

The Recall Walker Committee, along with committees to recall Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and three Republican state senators, filed the motion on Tuesday in Waukesha County Circuit Court. They also seek to intervene in the lawsuit Walker filed against the Government Accountability Board.

Recall Walker backers argue that Walker’s lawsuit is designed to create uncertainty, disruption and expense related to the reviewing of signatures gathered for the recall and approval of any election.

Walker wants the court to order the GAB to do a more extensive signature review than the board says it’s required to do under the law.

A motions hearing is set for Dec. 29.
