LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Ringing can be heard throughout La Crosse as the Salvation Army kicks off their Red Kettle Campaign.

The donation campaign accounts for approximately one third of the Salvation Army’s annual budget.

Funds support all programs like the emergency shelter the feed the kids program and the Angel Giving Tree.

Donating time and money towards helping the community is a longstanding tradition year round, but especially during the holidays.

“And it’s really a timeless thing, when we think about Christmas and giving, and that generous spirit that we have. ‘Though we have little, we give to what we can.’ And to me that’s what the kettle season is all about,” said Major Jeff Richardson, the Corps Officer with Salvation Army of La Crosse.
