Relics of catholic saints on display at the Shrine of Our Lady Guadalupe
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A famous La Crosse landmark is getting some company.
Over the last few days the public had a chance to view over 100 relics of Catholic saints at the Shrine of Our Lady Guadalupe.
A historic Catholic practice is venerating relics. Catholics believe that these relics are used as tools by god to heal.
One church member says venerating saints play a key role in prayer.
“It’s important to remember that we don’t pray to saints, but we ask for their prayers for us. We ask them to help us in our prayer. Since we know they’re in heaven as saints, we ask them to help us. We also look to them as examples as how to live our lives,” said Elizabeth Westhoff, Director of Communications for the Shrine of Our Lady Guadalupe.
