Report: Lue to rejoin Cavs as observer Friday
Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is ready to rejoin the team nearly two weeks after leaving to address some medical issues, according to a report Friday from ESPN.
Lue is planning to rejoin the team as an observer during Cleveland’s home game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, NBA sources told ESPN.
He will not coach in the game, with the plan being to slowly work back toward coaching the team full time over a four-game homestand that lasts until Thursday, according to sources.
Lue, who left the team on March 19, had reportedly been suffering from chest pains and other serious symptoms and had been losing sleep for most of the current season.
ESPN reported that he has been making dietary and exercise changes to improve his health.
Assistant Larry Drew has been coaching the Cavs since March 19, guiding the team to a 5-1 record in Lue’s absence.
