Report: Packers fined $300K for COVID protocol violations

Aaron Rodgers, Allen Lazard also fined $14,650 each

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported Tuesday evening that the NFL has concluded its review of the Packers’ COVID-19 protocols and as a result are fining the team $300,000 for protocol violations.

Demovsky added that Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard are each getting a fine of $14,650 for violations.

As an unvaccinated individual, Rodgers has repeatedly not worn a mask during indoor press conferences, which is one of the reasons for his fine. Demovsky reports the other violations include the team not reporting that the unvaccinated Rodgers and Lazard attended a Halloween party away from the team facility. Unvaccinated individuals can’t gather in groups of more than three, per league protocols.

Demovsky added video from inside the club facility found a few examples of Rodgers and Lazard not wearing a mask in the facility.

Per Demovsky, Packers CEO Mark Murphy released a statement on the NFL’s decision, saying, “We respect the League’s findings and we recognize the importance of adherence to the COVID protocols to keep our team and organization safe and healthy. We will continue to educate the team regarding the importance of the protocols and remain committed to operating within the protocols.”
