Reports: Pirates send McCutchen to Giants

The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to trade former National League MVP Andrew McCutchen to the San Francisco Giants, according to multiple reports.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first reported the deal, which is pending the completion of a physical, according to reports.

Initial reports of the deal did not specify what the Pirates will be receiving in return, although Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area tweeted that 25-year-old right-hander Kyle Crick will be part of the deal.

The deal is the Pirates’ second major trade in two days, having sent ace Gerrit Cole to the Houston Astros on Saturday.

McCutchen, a five-time All-Star outfielder who won the NL MVP in 2013, is set to make $14.5 million this season in the final year of his contract.

The 31-year-old hit for a .279 average with 28 home runs and 88 RBIs last season. A four-time Silver Slugger, he has a career total of 203 home runs.
