Republican Duffy elected to 3rd term in US House
MILWAUKEE (AP) — U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy has defeated a former Ashland councilwoman to represent northern Wisconsin for a third term in Congress.
The Wausau Republican defeated Democrat Kelly Westlund in Tuesday’s election.
Duffy is a former lumberjack and star of the sixth season of MTV’s “The Real World.” He served as district attorney in Ashland County before running for the U.S. House in 2010.
He made news last year with his vocal opposition to the rollout of the federal health care law and his willingness to let the federal government shutdown rather than see the law implemented. Soon after, a stranger screamed and grabbed at him as he walked to the Capitol to vote on legislation. Duffy said he wasn’t harmed by the attack.
