Republican Party-backed candidate for MN governor stops in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Republican Party-backed candidate for Minnesota Governor stopped by our area.
Jeff Johnson is looking to replace outgoing Democratic Governor Mark Dayton this fall. Johnson hopes to reform the state’s government, cut taxes to improve job growth, and replace what he calls the one-size-fits-all education system.
He believes his message is one that will extend beyond any particular party.
“That message of fundamental change, that message of changing the culture in state government from that of trying to control everybody to actually serving the people who pay their salaries, I think that appeals to a lot of people across the spectrum,” said Johnson.
Johnson served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2001 through 2006.
The primaries are August 14, and the general election is November 6.
