Republicans endorse candidate running for Rep. Ron Kind’s seat

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- Wisconsin republicans endorse a candidate to run for Representative Ron Kind’s 3rd congressional district seat in November.

Derrick Van Orden won the Republican Party caucus’ endorsement this past weekend.

The former Navy Seal has also been endorsed by former Governor Scott Walker, and former lawmakers Dan Kapanke and Sean Duffy. 

Van Orden disagrees with how Representative Kind acted during the impeachment of President Trump and takes issue with how Governor Evers is handling the state lockdown.

“We have to understand at this point, in the state of wisconsin and many other states, we’re killing the patient in order to cure the disease. We have destroyed our economy in less than a 45 day period,” said Van Orden. 

Van Orden is one of 7 Republicans running for the seat. The primary is set for August 11th.
