Rochester airport expands; La Crosse airport manager not worried
Expansion includes flights to Detroit, Atlanta
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — An expansion of service at Rochester’s regional airport isn’t a threat to La Crosse, according to the La Crosse Regional Airport Manager Clinton Torp.
Rochester is adding nonstop flights to Detroit and Atlanta thanks to a Department of Transportation grant. It took about two years to lock in the deal.
Even though the La Crosse Regional Airport also serves Detroit the airport manager sees this as an opportunity.
“If they’re successful with this new model that Delta is essentially looking at from our understanding, it might be something we might be able to see in the near future as well,” said Torp.
La Crosse is using the same grant to try and get service to Dallas- Fort Worth or Denver.
