Roger A Wee
Roger Allan Wee, age 78, of Ferryville and formerly Soldiers Grove, entered heaven peacefully with his family by his side on December 4, 2019 at 5:57AM.
Roger was born October 11, 1941 to Albert and Helen (Dregne) on the family farm in Towerville, WI the youngest of 5 children. On September 2, 1961 he married his High School Sweetheart Sylvia Helgeson. From this union a wonderful family bloomed! Born on a farm, Roger learned invaluable work ethics that he instilled upon his children for generations to come. In 1962 he became a licensed cheese maker and as a result moved his family to Allenton, WI where he managed and ran a blue cheese factory. From there he moved his family to Iron Ridge, WI and was head cheese maker of a foreign type cheese factory for the next 4 years. In 1972 a Vernon County dairy farm came up for sale and Roger was ready to move on from cheese making to farming.
The Lonesome Pine Farm became a treasured dairy, tobacco and hog family farm. The family worked hard and played hard together, when there were tough times, the family bonds became even stronger. Many nieces and nephews came to the farm on summer break and tell us of wonderful memories planting tobacco, kicking down oats, corn, baling hay etc. Roger made it so much fun they didn’t realize they were working!
Roger had a passion for restoring old vehicles and tractors working closely together with his son Gilbert. He was meticulous in everything he did: farming; restoring; maintaining machinery; cars; and trucks all perfectly done. He also enjoyed watches, clocks, time pieces of all types and going on the Mississippi in his boat finding the perfect fishing spot, anchoring and eating the lunch Sylv packed.
In 2007 Roger and Sylvia moved from the farm to their dream cabin on Eagle Mountain, Ferryville, WI where they have panoramic views of the Mississippi River along with wildlife walking through their yard every day. He was thankful for the profound blessing of the wonderful friends and neighbors that came into their lives on the Mountain.
Roger is survived by his wife of 58 years Sylvia, daughters Melissa (Ken), Angela (Vern) and Michele (Scott). Grandchildren Gilbert (Christine), Zacary, Stephanie, Jack Henry, Mack Allan, Tanner, Hayden Roger and Kamryn Sylvia. Great grandchildren Norah and Elyja.
