Rosella I. (Check) Stagman
Rosella I. Stagman age 92 of Bagley passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Prairie Maison Care Center. She was born March 22, 1927 in Prairie du Chien the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (White) Check. She married Max Stagman on September 26, 1945 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Together they owned and operated the Grant/Crawford Co-Op in Patch Grove, WI. They also did rural delivery for the Wisconsin State Journal for years. Rosella worked at the Coach Restaurant and later at the Prairie du Chien Convalescent Center. She also loved her garden. Max preceded her in death on May 1, 1999. She is survived by her children; Joe (Janice) of Bagley, Karen Stagman of Prairie du Chien, Jim (Elizabeth) of Chandler, AZ, Mike (Jen) of Stevensville, MT and Rodney of Farmersburg, IA, her brother Ray Check of Prairie du Chien, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in law Sonya, a brother Phillip Check and her sisters, Mae Balk and Josie Cipra.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a wake scripture at 6:30 PM.
