Rotary Club of La Crosse aims to clean up the Mississippi River
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- The Mississippi River will be getting a little cleaner because of a grant from the National Scenic Byway Foundation.
Sunday, the Rotary Club of La Crosse joined the Wisconsin Great River Road team to do clean-up work.
The clean-up took place at the Clinton Street boat landing.
Rotary Club members say they were happy to help clean up a river that is a big part of La Crosse.
“It’ll just continue every year,” said Rotary Club member Rosalie “Roz” Schnick. “We plan to get it bigger and bigger so that at one point we will be cleaning up the whole Mississippi Parkway commission that starts in Mexico, and we will be cleaning up the whole state of Wisconsin.”
The Wisconsin Great River Road Grant is focused on clean-up activities for US Highway 35 – Wisconsin’s All American Great River Road National Scenic Byway.
