‘Running with the Stars’ benefits local drum and bugle corps

Blue Stars corps plays for runners, fans

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A 5k a little different than most had runners helping out a local drum and bugle corps Saturday.

The 3rd annual ‘Running with the Stars’ 5k raises money for the Blue Stars while participants run to the corps’ musical beats. The goal this year is $3,000 and it goes into the Blue Stars general fund.

While there are many 5k’s in our area during the summer, this one offers a little more for the runners.

“So, this run is a little bit different because we have musical performers, as well as color guard performers out on the course, so there’s actually entertainment throughout the whole 5k run, versus just at the start and the finish,” said Running with the Stars Race Director Nikki Furlano.

After the award ceremony the Blue Stars held a performance for racers and fans.
