Runway work forces closure of Fort Dodge airport
FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — A runway reconstruction project is forcing the Fort Dodge Regional Airport to be closed for two weeks next month.
The Messenger reports that the airport will close on July 6 after a 6 a.m. flight departs. The airport is scheduled to reopen around 7 a.m. on July 20.
Director of aviation Rhonda Chambers says the $5.5 million federal airport improvement project will bring the runway back to excellent condition.
Normal flights have been canceled for the planned closure.
Officials say any passenger who has a Fort Dodge ticket for July 6-20 and has not been notified about getting another flight should contact Great Lakes Airlines at 800-554-5111.
The shorter of the two airport runways is being rebuilt.
