Salvation Army of La Crosse hopes you’ll play the part of Santa this year

The holidays are more than a month away, yet a La Crosse non-profit hopes you’ll help bring holiday cheer to others!

The Salvation Army’s annual Angel Giving Tree begins this Saturday at Valley View Mall.

Anyone interested in taking on the role of Santa Claus can take a tag from the tree to buy a child a new outfit. Each tag includes the child’s name, age, clothes sizes and some of their interests.

“It takes a lot off mom and dad’s backs to know that not only are they helping them have a good Christmas by getting toys under the tree, we’re also going to make sure that they’re warm, that they’re feet are covered with good shoes,” said Kelley Manson of the Salvation Army of La Crosse.

More than 600 children are signed up for the Angel Giving Tree so far. The Salvation Army will distribute those gifts on December 18.
