School district employees get $500 bonuses
BALDWIN, Wis. (AP) — Teachers, support staff and other employees of the Baldwin-Woodville School District have some extra cash this new year.
The school board, acting on a recommendation from the superintendent, gave a $500 bonus to each and every district employee, full- or part-time. Board President Jeff Campbell says the holiday bonuses to about 200 employees came from about $100,000 in unused school district funds and were given because staff are contributing more to insurance coverage and retirement and were faced with a wage freeze.
The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram says the bonuses were awarded during a closed session last month. Campbell says the bonus could be considered every year.
