School District of West Salem looking towards April referendum
WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — A referendum will be on the ballot for people living in the School District of West Salem this April.
The school district will ask residents for a three-year, $5.3 million operating referendum.
The request comes after a $7.6 million referendum failed in November.
The referendum request was approved by the district’s school board on Tuesday.
Feedback from the survey to district residents gave the school board a focus for moving forward.
“The school board sent some time with that and really parsed it out, what did they say, what are they trying to indicate in there, like ‘Be accurate’, ‘Be concise’, ‘Look at your budget,” said Troy Gunderson, School District of West Salem Superintendent.
The referendum in November failed by 33 votes.
