Slow, No Wake rules continue to be in effect in La Crosse County
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — If you’re planning to go out on the river anytime soon, remember the no wake rules remain in place on the Mississippi.
The river has been above 12 feet for nearly a month.
That is 2 feet above the no wake level in La Crosse County.
The Wisconsin DNR defines slow, no wake speed as driving as slowly as possible while still maintaining control.
La Crosse Police say going slowly means being safe.
“The debris that is floating down in the rivers right now, certainly this water is going into areas that its not supposed to be going to, so it’s picking up and pulling things down as well,” said La Crosse Police Department sergeant Tom Walsh.
The fine for violating the no-wake rule in the city of La Crosse is $67.
