Small grass fire put out on George Street
LA CROSSE, Wis. — Fireworks may have caused a small Fourth of July grass fire on La Crosse’s north side.
Firefighters responded to George Street late Wednesday night, and quickly put the grass fire out.
A witness tells News 8 someone set off fireworks in the area before the fire started. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The City of La Crosse issued a burn ban Tuesday due to the hot, dry conditions. The ban includes fireworks and recreational fire pits.
Stoddard-Bergen and Holmen also have burning bans in place, along with DNR burning bans in Crawford, Richland and nine other counties in southern Wisconsin.
