Sole Burner in Chaseburg event helping raise money for cancer research
CHASEBURG, Wis. (WKBT) – Folks in Chaseburg spent some time together to learn more about cancer.
Chaseburg held its 16th annual Sole Burner event Saturday, and it’s done to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The co-chair of the Sole Burner says cancer survivors from all over the state were at the event.
Her nine-year-old daughter passed away from cancer more than 40 years ago, so she says this is her way of giving back hoping that one day there will be a cure.
“The only thing that we can do is throw money at it for one thing, and just hope and pray that there’s a researcher out there that’s going to come up with a really great plan,” co-chair Linda DeGarmo said.
DeGarmo says the event has been growing every year since it started.
This year, the event has raised $106,000.
DeGarmo says she’s hoping funds can hit $150,000.
