Some legislators push for change in recall laws

MADISON, Wis. — Some Wisconsin state legislators are pushing for a change in recall elections.

A proposal in the state assembly would require all officials to be charged with a serious crime or have probable cause that they violated the state code of ethics. Right now, there are no requirements.

The amendment further requires that a filing official determine if the requirements are met before any recalls are scheduled.

The amendment must pass both bodies of the state legislature and be put to a statewide vote.
