Some rural populations seeing lower impacts from COVID-19
Despite low numbers, social distancing still encouraged
MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) – The added testing in Sparta is bringing testing into a lower populated part of our community.
About half of the cases in the state are in Milwaukee.
But there are still cases reported in counties throughout our area.
Everyone has a roll in helping all community members stay safe.
“The numbers are likely lower due to the lower population densities, so we do have that advantage, but the basic tenants of social distancing remain important,” said Mayo Clinic Health System Dr. Derrick Woodard.
Doctor Woodard says community members following social distancing guidelines could help keep the infection rate low.
