Some Western Tech programs going to trimester schedule
LA CROSSE, WI — When Western students come back to class this fall, some can look forward to a different calendar.
Ten of the schools’ 64 programs are shifting to trimesters. The courses will now take 15 weeks and can be taken in fall, spring, or summer.
Officials say this will help students complete their programs in less than 2 and a half years and gives them the flexibility they need.
And the faculty hopes this reduces the summer slide. “A benefit, I think faculty to having the content that, not having to re-teach those that are in the program, they can do the continuity and consistency year round,” said Western’s V.P. of Academic Affairs Peg Boudreau.
21477170Teachers will only have classes during two of the three trimesters. Five more programs are considering the switch for next fall.
