Son remembers father through pumpkin carving
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Last year, we brought you the story about a group of friends who rallied behind one friend whose father died.
Tom Fowell and his father used to carve large amounts of pumpkins together during Halloween, so last year his friends in La Crosse carved nearly 100 pumpkins and then drove them up to Fowell in Richland center.
This year, the pumpkins are staying right here in La Crosse as a way to say thank you for all of those last year who surprised Tom.
He says the support he has received is truly special.
“Here’s something so personal to me that just, the anniversary of my dad’s death doesn’t hit me at all,” he said. “This hits me like a ton of bricks every year. So to see the outpouring of support in memory of my dad is amazing. “
Fowell hopes there will be about 70-100 carved pumpkins in the yard by Halloween.
