Soup-er Bowl collects a ton of food, literally
LA CROSSE, Wis. — An annual food drive collects a ton of food, literally.
About 60 taverns took part in the Soup-er Bowl Drive for the Hunger Task Force.
Starting a few days before the actual Super Bowl, the businesses collected soup and other non-perishable food items to support the food pantry. They also took cash donations.
The Hunger Task Force’s executive director says even though fewer taverns took part this year, the ones that competed stepped up their game. “We’ve seen a number of taverns double and triple what they had last year, it’s really awesome to see and so many people are having fun with it,” said Shelly Krause.
For the third straight year, the Double Deuce on French Island brought in the biggest haul.
