South Ave. lane closures begin July 22
LA CROSSE, WI — Beginning Monday, July 22, traffic on South Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction on La Crosse’s south side due to road work.
City of La Crosse Traffic Engineer Matthew Gallager says the lane reductions are necessary for re-construction of underground utility structures under South Avenue.
The road work will take place on South Avenue (State Highway 35 and U.S. Highways 14/61) between 15th and 16th Streets. Access to 16th Street will remain open. There will be lane closures for a couple weeks. Gallager says all lanes are expected to reopen before Monday, August 5.
Oversized traffic will not be permitted in the area and will be directed to use Losey Boulevard and Jackson Street/State Road (State Highway 33) as an alternate route.
