South western Wisconsin Republicans present middle-class tax cut proposal in La Crosse

Republican state legislators from our area visited La Crosse Thursday to reveal a new middle-class tax cut proposal.

State Representatives Tony Kurtz of Wonewoc, Loren Oldenburg of Viroquam, Treig Pronschinske of Mondovi and Nancy VanderMeer of Tomah presented their idea while at the “Marge’s on Rose” restaurant.

The group claims the tax cut would provide $340-million in tax relief with most of the cuts going to those making between $30,000 and $100,000 per year.

“So it puts this money right back in the pocket, put food on the table, and that’s the idea of this. Give back to the farmer, give it back to the business people and the working class of Wisconsin,” said Oldenburg.

The proposal would pull money from Wisconsin’s $588-million budget surplus.
