Sparta Area Schools makes mask optional in district buildings

Physical distancing and hand washing is still encouraged.

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) – Masks are now options in Sparta Area School District buildings.

The move follows a meeting last month when parents and community members shared their thoughts on the mask rule.

The decision come ahead of Monday’s start of summer school in the district.

“As we continue to move in the right direction is to do so in a way that is sustainable. Our goal truly is to be much more open in the fall and have it look even more like normal,” said Sparta Area School District superintendent Amy Van Deuren.
