Sparta man arrested after high speed chase
SPARTA, WI — A Sparta man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high speed chase.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s department says 51-year-old Brian Brannon was pulled over in Jackson County at 9 last night in a car that had been reported stolen.
Brannon took off leading officers on a high speed chase reaching speeds faster than 100 miles per hour.
The sheriff’s department says Brannon was driving on the wrong side of the road during part of the chase.
The Wisconsin State Patrol set up spike strips on highway 27 and Hardware road just north of Sparta causing Brannon to drive into a ditch.
The sheriff’s department is recommending a number of charges including an 8th offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
