Sparta police identify 4 suspects in armed robbery

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Sparta police identified and questioned four suspects in an armed robbery at the Wayside Tavern on West Wisconsin Street.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at about 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 11. Police said the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from an employee of the tavern.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money. No one inside the tavern was hurt.

Sparta police identified and questioned four suspects on Friday, June 12. Three suspects are in custody on warrants. The suspects’ names have not been released yet. Charges relating to the robbery are pending.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is assisting Sparta police with the investigation.
