Sparta school bus crash leaves 14 students injured

Crash on Highway 21 leaves more than a dozen injured

More than a dozen students are hurt in a school bus crash near Sparta Friday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Highway 21, west of County Highway Q, when the bus made a turn in front of an oncoming pickup truck.

There were 37 students on the bus at the time of the crash. Fourteen of the students were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, along with the driver of the pickup truck.

The Lamers Bus Company is cooperating in the investigation of the crash, which is being conducted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin Highway Patrol.
