Sparta’s Community Christmas Dinner focuses on spreading goodwill

SPARTA (WKBT) – Members of the Sparta community enjoyed the Community Christmas Dinner on Sunday, hosted by the Sparta American Legion Post 100.

Open to everyone, the dinner helps residents share in the holiday cheer and spread the message of goodwill throughout the community.

When the dinner first started out, it was initially intended for people who were unable to leave their homes.

According to the Post Commander, the dinner is a great opportunity to give back to people who may be alone for the holidays.

“It’s a great opportunity for people who want to volunteer and help their fellow man,” said  Post Commander Tim Hyma. “We provide that space here. And that’s what the American Legion is all about, providing a space for veterans and their communities.”

Current and former members of the military are welcome to join the American Legion and make a donation on the Legion’s website.
