Special flag ceremony helps remember loved ones

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT)- American Legion Post 51 in West Salem held a special remembrance service in honor of the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

American Legion Post 51 is providing the opportunity to honor heroes with flags of honor.

Community members reserved flags to honor members of the military, local heroes, and community members by dedicating the flag in their name.

Each flag represents one individual honored with a total of 600 flags.

“It might be because of military service it might be parents, it might be because they were a great teacher but they are being honored for something and that’s what goes in line with 911, to remember people,” said Honor Guard Supervisor, Mike Schaller.

Flags will be displayed in Village Park through tomorrow
