Spence Elementary students to take part in world-wide ‘Odyssey of the Mind’ competition
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Local elementary students will show their story-telling abilities off at a world-wide competition.
Two teams of students from Spence Elementary will head to the world competition of ‘Odyssey of the Mind’. The program gets each team to approach challenges as opportunities with quick thinking and improvisation acting.
One of the local teams will tell the story of a forgotten emoji, using three dimensional emojis and without spoken language. The other team is creating a funny story about an outer space hangout, using original characters and entertainment.
“There’s a lot of things we’re doing in Worlds, but I probably will just like acting it out and being with my friends,” said Spence Elementary 4th Grader Susanna Nelson.
Both teams took first place at the state competition last month. They will compete against more than 800 other teams from around the world in Ames, Iowa next week.
