St. Clare Health Mission receives $1,600 donation
Donation comes from Washburn Neighborhood Association
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Local dollars will help provide healthcare to people in need.
The Washburn Neighborhood Association gave a check for $1,600 to the St. Clare Health Mission.
The money comes from people who purchased community garden plots in the neighborhood.
St. Clare provides health care to those without insurance or to those who are under-insured. They say this money will be used for dental surgery.
“We know that we have a lot of people who are in need in the La Crosse area and so, this is part of the neighborhood, and we try to focus on what’s of use to the neighborhood and what’s helpful to the neighborhood,” said Washburn Neighborhood Association Chair Vickie Unferth.
On top of the money donation growers are asked to donate 10-percent of their produce to help local people in need of food.
