State Bank Chili Cookoff set for this weekend in La Crosse
2692688LA CROSSE, Wis. — It may not feel like it now, but it’s going to be “chili” in La Crosse this weekend. The 20th annual State Bank Chili Cookoff is set for this Saturday.
This year they’re hoping to raise a record $20,000. Admission is $5 for all-you-can-eat chili, a variety of raffles to enter, and a kids play area.
A new feature to this year’s event is a prize button. “The buttons are new, they’re a door prize button so you buy a button, it admits four people to the event. There are only a thousand buttons and we will draw one and you will get a get away to downtown La Crosse,” says organizer Regina Philips.
Proceeds from the event benefit the DARE and GREAT programs to help keep kids away from drugs and gangs and also Habitat for Humanity.
