State Patrol graduation held in La Crosse

The newest members of the Wisconsin State Patrol are celebrating Friday in La Crosse.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers joined the 64th State Patrol recruit class for their graduation ceremony.

Evers helped swear-in 16 new state troopers and inspectors at the La Crosse Center.

For one of the new troopers, graduation means continuing a family tradition.

“It means everything, I worked really hard for a long time, made it places I never thought I’d be and now I can stand right there with my father,” said Wisconsin State Trooper Damian Wood.

Each trooper went through 26 weeks of training at the State Patrol Academy in Fort McCoy to prepare for graduation.
