Student-run help desk helps provides free tech services for community
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Local college students are making connections with the community.
Western Technical College Computer Support Specialist students are providing free tech services.
The student-help desk offers computer software training, general troubleshooting, and some repairs.
It also has an e-waste drop-off.
Services are available online and over the phone too.
It’s a benefit for the community and students.
“A lot of places you have to pay. We get paid in experience. It’s a lot of younger people trying to get their hands on technology to fix up. It kind of gives us a taste of what we’ll be doing in our real job profession,” said Grant Butler, Help Desk Manager.
The support desk located in the Business Education Center.
It’s open from 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
It runs from March 9th to April 10th.
