Students host community for inaugural Ona SOUP event
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Onalaska is taking after La Crosse, with a community-focused fundraising event.
Students from the Onalaska High School organized the city’s inaugural “Onalaska Soup.” $5 got community members in the door, a bowl of soup and a pair of votes. The group then listened to 6 ideas hoping to improve the Onalaska community.
The idea that receives the most votes will get the money raised at that night’s event.
Students say any success the program sees is due to the community.
“The amazing support that we have had from the administration, from our local councils and from just the community itself because there’s just a lot of great people here. I believe that with their support, and with our hard work, we can make magic happen,” said Onalaska High School Senior RaghuRam Prasad.
If successful, the Onalaska High School students would like to continue the SOUP events in the future.
