Students stand along street, collect items for our troops

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — Area students are able to send some comforts of home to our troops overseas thanks to community donations.
For the 4th straight year, students at Coulee Christian School in West Salem stood on the street asking for donations.
Cars pulled up to drop off money, food, and other supplies; basically anything that could go into a care package.
It’s a project that supports the work of Operation Homefront, an organization that regularly sends care packages to our troops.
The students also wrote letters of thanks and encouragement to the service members. “I think it’s awesome that we do it for the troops, cause they risk their lives for everyone else and we should at least give them something,” said 8th grader Jordan Wilkins.
The students also put on a dinner Monday night as a way to thank area veterans.
