‘Stuff the bus’ drive collects school supplies for families in need

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WKBT) — A ‘Stuff the Bus’ drive was held in West Salem Saturday to collect supplies for the upcoming school year.

The Barre Co-ed Lions Club teamed up with the West Salem Lions Club to host the event at the Hansen’s IGA on Highway 16.

The supplies go to students whose families struggle to pay for them on their own.

Organizers say they received plenty of supplies and also lots of monetary donations, especially from local businesses.

“Our kids of our community, we want them to get the best education. And so, by getting them off to a good start we’re helping them to get through the school year,” said Rita Thompson, the president of the West Salem Lions Club.

There were also brats and pork chops on sale to get more money for school supplies.
