Suspect arrested for armed robberies in La Crosse, Monroe Counties
MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) — Authorities in Monroe County arrested a 29-year-old Sparta man in connection to two armed robberies earlier this year.
Robert M. Neilland faces charges for an armed robbery at the Leon Country Tavern and at Jimmy’s North Star Tavern in La Crosse.
The Monroe County Sheriff ‘s Office said as a woman was closing up the Leon Country Tavern on February 1 and was heading outside to her vehicle when a man forced his way into the tavern, showed a semi-automatic pistol and demanded cash from the register and safe.
During the investigation for that incident, The Sheriff’s Office said Neilland was also named a suspect for an armed robbery at Jimmy’s North Star Tavern in La Crosse on January 28 where two patrons where pistol whipped.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested Neilland on Thursday, June 18. Besides the two armed robbery cases, Neilland was arrested for two other matters.
A $15,000 cash bond and a $10,000 signature bond was set for Neilland in Monroe County court.
