Suspicious item prompts evacuation at Dubuque airport

Authorities say that what was thought to be a suspicious package prompting an evacuation at Dubuque Regional Airport turned out to be a laptop computer.

Dubuque police officers were sent to the airport around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday after the item was found during passenger and package screening. Transportation Security Administration officials say that after the device was examined and determined to be the harmless laptop, the device and its owner were cleared to fly. The officials didn’t say why the laptop originally seemed suspicious.

TSA says it took about 45 minutes to conclude there was no threat and end the evacuation.
