Man pleads, is sentenced in Waterloo New Year's shooting

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A Waterloo man has entered Alford pleas to charges related to a New Year's Day shooting outside a local nightclub and has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/2hxUAJK ) that 23-year-old Kristopher Darquel Spates Jr. entered the pleas to charges of willful injury, assault on an officer, harassment and several weapons and drug counts. Some of the counts were for incidents unrelated to the shooting.
